What began as a bold vision turned into a labor of love that spanned two years, hindered by pandemic delays but fueled by relentless dedication. This remarkable renovation soon became a living portfolio for their Los Angeles-based design studio, offering future clients a tangible example of their approach and expertise. More importantly, it introduced travelers to a newly revitalized retreat located in Twentynine Palms, California—just a stone’s throw from the iconic Joshua Tree National Park. Perched on ten acres of sandy dunes dotted with mesquite trees, this serene getaway invites visitors to immerse themselves in the desert’s natural beauty while enjoying modern comforts.
The couple spared no effort in reimagining the original stucco structure, replacing the likely hazardous asbestos floor tiles with carefully crafted white oak planks. They treated the walls with a soothing, natural greige lime wash from a boutique paint brand and lovingly restored the original wooden ceiling beams, preserving the home’s authentic character. At the heart of the living space, the historic brick fireplace was kept intact, serving as a warm centerpiece that connects past and present.

To maximize space, a compact 24-inch Smeg refrigerator was nestled next to a custom-built banquette. The seating area features weathered chocolate leather cushions crafted by an Etsy artisan, lending both comfort and rustic charm.
